Syx17LL06330/Df(3L)Exel8098 eye discs have normal morphology. The cells show accumulation of autophagosomes intracellularly, but secreted autophagosomes are not seen.

Autolysosome formation is inhibited in the fat body cells of starved Syx17LL06330/Df(3L)Exel8098 mutant wandering third instar larvae. Climbing defects are seen in adult flies.

The eye colour of Syx17LL06330/Df(3L)Exel8098 mutant flies is similar to wild type controls.

Fat body cells of starved Syx17LL06330/Df(3L)Exel8098 animals accumulate double-membrane autophagosomes and show impaired generation of autolysosomes.

Syx17LL06330/Syx17f03584 and Syx17LL06330/Df(3L)Exel8098 flies show poor climbing ability compared to controls.

Brain neurons of well-fed Syx17LL06330/Df(3L)Exel8098 flies show large-scale accumulation of autophagosomes and the brains show apoptotic DNA fragmentation.

    Comments

Expression of Syx17+tgen rescues the autolysosome formation defects seen in starved Syx17LL06330/Df(3L)Exel8098 mutant wandering third instar larvae. The climbing defects seen in the resulting adult flies are also rescued.

Expression of Syx171-301.T:Zzzz\FLAG rescues the autolysosome formation defects seen in starved Syx17LL06330/Df(3L)Exel8098 mutant wandering third instar larvae. The climbing defects seen in the resulting adult flies are also rescued.

Expression of Syx171-270.T:Zzzz\FLAG rescues the autolysosome formation defects seen in starved Syx17LL06330/Df(3L)Exel8098 mutant wandering third instar larvae. The climbing defects seen in the resulting adult flies are also rescued.

Expression of Syx171-251.T:Disc\RFP-mCherry fails to rescue the autolysosome formation defects seen in starved Syx17LL06330/Df(3L)Exel8098 mutant wandering third instar larvae. The climbing defects seen in the resulting adult flies are also not rescued.

Syx17+tgen rescues the climbing defects of Syx17LL06330/Df(3L)Exel8098 flies.
