Description

Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a 1685bp deletion which removes Fit1 nucleotides 67-1752 (this removes 629bp from the 5'UTR and 1055bp from the coding sequence). 12bp (CATGATGAAATA) from the start of the original insertion remain.

Comment:

Deletion resulting from the imprecise excision of P{SUPor-P}Fit1KG05576 removes 629 bp of 5' UTR and 1055 bp of coding sequence. 12 bp of insertion sequence remain.

Mutant flies have normal heart morphology.

Homozygotes are semi-lethal, with approximately 50% dying around the 1st-2nd instar stage.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Expression of Fit2GD1300 under the control of Scer\GAL4Hand.PA in a Fit1Δ161 background results in abnormal heart morphology. The distance between cardiomyocytes is increased compared to controls. The mutant heart rhythm shows a loss of synchrony between cardiomyocytes.
