Expression of esgHMS02538 under the control of Scer\GAL4Dl-05151-G leads to abnormal clusters of cells containing enteroendocrine cells, a significant increase in the ratio of enteroendocrine cells to enterocytes, a loss of intestinal stem cells, but no significant change in the number of dividing cells per gut, and an overall increase in enteroendocrine cells in the midgut, as compared to controls.

Expression of esgHMS02538 under the control of Scer\GAL4Su(H).GBE leads to a reduction in the number of enteroblasts in the adult midgut, but no significant difference in the number of enteroendocrine cells, as compared to controls.

Expression of esgHMS02538 under the control of Scer\GAL4esg.PU leads to a significant increase in the number of enteroendocrine cells in the adult midgut, as compared to controls.

Co-expression of scJF02104 or asedsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa suppresses the increased enteroendocrine cell number seen in adult midguts of flies expressing esgHMS02538 under the control of Scer\GAL4Dl-05151-G.

Co-expression of prosdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa suppresses the increased number of enteroendocrine cells seen in the adult midgut of flies expressing esgHMS02538 under the control of Scer\GAL4esg.PU.
