Site of nucleotide substitution in mutant inferred by FlyBase based on reported amino acid change.
Homozygous clones in the eye induced using the ey-FLP/FRT system result in overgrowth of the eye. Most of the overgrown tissue is cos[+], suggesting that the clone acts non-autonomously. The homozygous clones are often present in the mutant eye, but they are small, indicating that they have a growth disadvantage compared to cos[+] cells. The ommatidia are often roughened and expanded along the anterior margin, even when this region is composed of cos[+] tissue.
