Expression of Mmp2NIG.1794-1R under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PU in embryos leads to heart development defects, including delayed collective cell migration of cardioblasts, with significantly decreased migration velocity; frequent gaps and clumps of cardioblasts are observed; cardioblasts exhibit significant reduction in the number of filopodia and lamellipodia; and the lumen fails to form correctly, as compared to wild type.

Expression of Mmp2NIG.1794-1R under the control of Scer\GAL4bab1-Pgal4-2 (using the temperature sensitive Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B allele to limit expression to the adult stage) results in an increase in the proliferation of follicle precursor cells in region 2b of the germarium and an increase in the average number of cells in the interfollicle stalks compared to wild type.

Expression of Mmp2NIG.1794-1R under the simultaneous control of both Scer\GAL4bab1-Agal4-5 and Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 (using the temperature sensitive Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B allele to limit expression to the adult stage) results in an increase in the average number of cells in the interfollicle stalks compared to wild type.
