Imprecise excision of P{GawB}NP3499 (located ~400bp upstream of the first Rae1 exon) generates an approximate 900bp deletion ranging from just before the first exon of Rae1 (including almost the entire Rae1 promoter) to the end of adjacent pirk.

Reference

Rae1EX28 mutants survive until the second instar larval stage. The mutant larvae start wandering with a body size close to second instar. They continue to wander for several days without a further increase in their body size and eventually die before pupation.

Rae1EX28 and Rae1EX28/Df(2R)XE-2900 mutant neuromuscular junctions exhibit synaptic terminal overgrowth and decreased bouton size in synapses on muscle 6/7. The average muscle size in these mutants appears similar to controls.
