The expression of maskHMS01045 under the control of Scer\GAL41151 leads to decreased flight ability.

Expressing maskHMS01045 under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU induces a small eye phenotype.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4en.PU induces substantial apoptosis in the wing disc.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4repo.PU induces significant apoptosis in the larval brain.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4moody.PU induces a compromised blood-brain barrier, as dye injected into the body cavity is able to diffuse into the adult retina or third instar larval brain. In agreement, larval subperineurial glial cells show disrupted/discontinuous septate junctions (Dlg immunostaining) and significant decreases in nuclear size and ploidy, as compared to controls. There is also a significant decrease in larval brain volume only at higher expression conditions (i.e. at 25[o]C but not at 18[o]C), as compared to controls.

Expressing maskHMS01045 under the control of Scer\GAL4how-24B results in the formation of significantly more autophagosomes and fewer autolysosomes (assessed by the red:green fluorescence ration of Atg8-GFP-mCherry puncta) in muscles throughout third instar larval stage. There is no change in pupal thoracic morphology and body size.

Flies expressing maskHMS01045 under the control of Scer\GAL4how-24B are pupal stage lethal.

Ectopic expression of maskHMS01045 under the control of Scer\GAL4how-24B results in defects in the mitochondrial connectivity in third instar larvae compared to controls.
