Site of nucleotide substitution in mutant inferred by FlyBase based on reported amino acid change.
Hemizygous and Gyc88ES451F/Gyc88EV474M third instar larvae show a defect in the normal hypoxia escape response; mutant larvae which have been allowed to burrow into the food and commence feeding take significantly longer than control larvae to leave the food when exposed to low oxygen concentrations.
The defect in the hypoxia escape response that is seen in Gyc88EV474M/Gyc88ES451F larvae is rescued by expression of Gyc88EScer\UAS.cVa under the control of either Scer\GAL4Gyc-89Da.1.9 or Scer\GAL4Gyc-89Db.3.4.
