Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a 1983bp deletion that removes part of the 5'UTR, the coding start site, the whole first exon and part of the second exon of hpo.
Homozygous clones generated using the eyFLP system result in eyes with an increased number of interommatidial cells compared to wild type.
Adults containing homozygous clones represent 34.3% of the population recovered after clones are induced using the eyFLP method (expected fraction of adults containing mutant clones is 50% if there is no effect of the mutant clones on viability).
hpo5.1 has visible | adult stage phenotype, non-suppressible by ZyxΔ41/ZyxΔ41
hpo5.1/hpo[+] is a suppressor | partially of visible phenotype of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, kibraEP747
hpo5.1 is a suppressor of increased cell death phenotype of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, kibraUASp.cGa
hpo5.1 has interommatidial cell | increased number | somatic clone phenotype, non-enhanceable by Gitex21C
hpo5.1 has interommatidial cell | increased number | somatic clone | pupal stage phenotype, suppressible | partially by ZyxΔ41/ZyxΔ41
hpo5.1/hpo[+] is a suppressor | partially of eye phenotype of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, kibraEP747
hpo5.1 is a suppressor of eye disc phenotype of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, kibraUASp.cGa
The supernumerary inter-ommatidial cells in the pupal retina phenotype characteristic for hpo5.1/hpo5.1 eyes (created by the EGUF method in otherwise heterozygous animals) can be partially suppressed by combination with ZyxΔ41/ZyxΔ41 but the overgrowth and folded shape of the adult eyes cannot be rescued.
hpo5.1 suppresses the ectopic apoptosis in the eye discs which is induced by expression of kibraScer\UAS.P\T.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.
