Detailed Description

Expressing schlankJF02502 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU does not induce any obvious eye phenotype.

10 day old flies expressing schlankJF02502 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.Switch.PT and treated with RU486 from day 1 of adulthood, raised under either dietary restriction (0.5% yeast) or an ad libitum diet (5% yeast), have lower survival to acute starvation as compared to controls; flies expressing schlankJF02502 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.Switch.PT and treated with RU486 from day 1 of adulthood, raised under dietary restriction (0.5% yeast) or an ad libitum diet (5% yeast), have lower body mass and lower triglyceride content than controls.

Flies expressing schlankJF02502 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.Switch.PR and treated with RU486 from day 1 of adulthood, raised under either dietary restriction (0.5% yeast) or an ad libitum diet (5% yeast), have reduced lifespan than controls.

The eye defects induced by the expression of Zzzz\CGG90.UAS.EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU (rough eye and depigmentation) are enhanced by the co-expression of schlankJF02502, even leading to necrotic patches.
