Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR- or Scer\GAL4tub.PU- but not Scer\GAL4elav.PU-mediated expression of SyndScer\UAS.cKa increases the width of the subsynaptic reticulum of neuromuscular junctions without affecting bouton size.

Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR- or Scer\GAL4tub.PU-mediated expression of SyndScer\UAS.cKa induces the biogenesis of additional, relatively complex, subsynaptic reticulum.

Expression of SyndScer\UAS.cKa in the motor neurons (under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 has no effect on synaptic transmission.
