Expression of upd1JF03149 under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA has no effect on either body weight or attraction to food cues in adult flies, whereas expression driven in the neural tissue by Scer\GAL4elav.PU heightens the attraction to food in fed flies so that it is comparable to the response observed in their starved counterparts as well as starved control flies (and higher than in fed controls). Scer\GAL4elav.PU>upd1JF03149 flies also consume more food and weigh more than controls (but their relative fat storage levels are not significantly increased).

Limiting the Scer\GAL4elav.PU-driven expression of upd1JF03149 only to the developmental stage (by using tub-Gal80[ts] in conjunction with temperature manipulations to control the temporal expression profile) does not lead to any significant changes in response to food odor, food intake or average body weight in adult flies, whereas adult-onset upd1 knock-down results in a marked increase in all three, as compared to controls.

Scer\GAL4en-e16E-mediated expression results in a modest reduction in size of the posterior compartment of the adult wing.

Expression of upd1JF03149 under the control of Scer\GAL4ppl.PP does not result in a reduction in body size.

Expression of upd1JF03149 under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA has no effect on triacylglycerol levels in adults.

The increased attraction to food cues, increased food consumption and higher body weight of adult flies expressing upd1JF03149 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU can be rescued by co-expression of upd2Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP.

Xenogenetic Interactions
