Detailed Description

Adults expressing upd2UAS.EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4ppl.PP are resistant to starvation.

Expression of upd2Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4Hml.Δ impairs the lifespan of adult flies on a standard diet but does not further decrease the lowered survival of flies fed lard-supplemented diet.

Expression of upd2Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4ppl.PP suppresses the reduction in triacylglycerol levels that normally occurs under starvation conditions.

Expression of upd2Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP in wing imaginal discs, driven by Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096, results in adults with wings of reduced size.

Genetic Interactions

The increased attraction to food cues, increased food consumption and higher body weight of adult flies expressing upd1JF03149 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU can be rescued by co-expression of upd2Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP.

Coexpression of the domeΔEXT.Scer\UAS transgene with upd2Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP (both under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096) suppresses the reduced wing phenotype seen when upd2Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP is expressed alone.

Expression of upd2Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP in the spiracles, driven by Scer\GAL4klu-G410, results in partial rescue of the Df(1)os1A2 spiracle defect.

Comments

The reduction in wing size and reduction in triacylglycerol levels seen in upd2Δ3-62 flies is rescued by expression of upd2Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA.
