    Homozygous clones in the adult thorax result in a loss of hairs and a gain of socket cells. 72% of mutant sensory organ preclusters contain 2 socket cells and 5% contain 3 socket cells at 28 hours after puparium formation (APF), while at 38 hours APF, 65% contain 2 socket cells, 27% contain 3 socket cells and 3% contain 4 socket cells (wild-type precursor clusters always contain one socket cell).
