SlnD1 homoygous mutant larvae die with in 4 days of hatching. The mutant larvae halt food uptake a few hours after hatching and show accumulation of blue-dye-mixed food mostly in the hindgut region. Moreover, they display a smaller body size compared to controls.
SlnD1 heterozygotes, combined with either Df(2R)BSC329 or Df(2R)ED2247 die with in 4 days of hatching.
