When neutral marked clones are induced in the ovary, the proportion of germaria carrying marked somatic stem cells 3 weeks after clone induction is around 70% of that seen one week after clone induction. However, for Med24 homozygous clones, only 11% of the germaria carrying marked somatic stem cells at 1 week after induction still do so at 2 weeks after induction. By 3 weeks, no marked somatic stem cells are present in germaria.
Med24 homozygous clones in the ovarian follicle cells contain about 70% the number of cells as their wild-type twin-spot clones.
Med24 has follicle stem cell | somatic clone phenotype, suppressible | partially by Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PL/BacA\p35UAS.cHa
The loss of Med24 homozygous mutant somatic stem cells from germaria is partially suppressed when those clones are also BacA\p35Scer\UAS.cHa; Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PL (Scer\GAL80 method).
