The expression of DriceGD12284 under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 leads to opaque but straight wings, which respectively indicate apoptosis but no growth inhibition during development. Depending on the insertion, additional Dicer-2 expression (for a more efficient RNAi) can induce curled or blistered wings.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4C10 does not affect the overall wing size.

Individuals expressing DriceGD12284 under the control of Scer\GAL4ci.PU and subjected to ionizing radiation show a significantly enlarged wing disc anterior compartment, associated with basal cell delamination, as compartment to controls.

Expression of DriceGD12284 under the control of Scer\GAL4ple.PF does not lead to a significant difference in survival or climbing capability as compared to controls under normal conditions; however, these flies exhibit increased resistance to paraquat toxicity, with a significant increase in survival and climbing performance when exposed to paraquat, as compared to control flies exposed to the same treatment.

Adults expressing DriceGD12284 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 may result in semi-lethality, depending on the insertion line used.
