UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of CG16884GD5391 under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 narrows the L3-L4 intervein region and reduces the anterior crossvein. The anterior crossvein is not ablated, although small gaps are seen in some wings. Expression of CG16884GD5391 under the control of Scer\GAL4C-765 results in slightly small wings with some ectopic vein formation, especially in the position of the anterior and posterior crossveins. A reduction in size is also seen when CG16884GD5391 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E. The reduction affects the posterior compartment causing a posterior curvature of the wing. Defects in cuticle formation are also seen. The cuticle of the entire posterior department appears fragile and less pigmented.
Adults expressing CG16884GD5391 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
