UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of bdlGD2597 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mz97 in third instar larvae leads to wrapping glia of the eye disc exhibiting significantly shorter processes, with fewer processes present in the lamina, as compared to wild type. Larvae expressing bdlGD2597 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mz97 (but not Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU]) also exhibit defects in photoreceptor-cell bundle ensheathment by wrapping glia in the optic stalk.
Adults expressing bdlGD2597 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
