UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of DarkGD12048 under the control of Scer\GAL4e22c results in some syncytia forming in third instar larval epidermis, although the penetrance is rather low (around 30%). Expression under the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 driver (using tub-Gal80[ts] to limit the time of expression to third instar larval stage) does not induce formation of giant syncytia in dorsal epidermal patches expressing the driver.
Adults expressing DarkGD12048 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

DarkGD12048, Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 is a non-suppressor of increased cell size | third instar larval stage phenotype of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237, hepCA.UAS
DarkGD12048, Scer\GAL4e22c is a non-suppressor of embryonic/larval epidermis | third instar larval stage phenotype of Scer\GAL4e22c, stckNIG.7954R
DarkGD12048, Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 is a non-suppressor of embryonic/larval epidermis | third instar larval stage phenotype of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237, hepCA.UAS
The formation of abnormal large syncytia in larval epidermis characteristic for third instar larvae expressing stckNIG.7954R under the control of Scer\GAL4e22c is not suppressed by co-expression of DarkGD12048.
The formation of giant syncytia in the patches of dorsal larval epidermis expressing hepCA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 (using tub-Gal80ts to limit the expression to 16 hr-long pulse during the third instar) is not suppressed by co-expression of DarkGD12048, the number of nuclei within the syncytia is also not changed.
