The wing defects seen in flies expressing MTF-1Δ580-791.tub or MTF-1Δ761-791.tub are enhanced by the "qMtn" mutant combination (MtnAΔATG MtnBΔATG MtnCΔATG MtnDOreR) and the mutant flies show a very low eclosion rate.
MtnAΔATG MtnBΔATG MtnCΔATG MtnDOreR quadruple mutants are viable and fertile, but are highly sensitive to copper and cadmium load in food, showing no survival on 0.5mM copper or 50μM cadmium concentrations. The quadruple mutants are not sensitive to copper depletion.
MtnBΔATG MtnDOreR double mutants show greatly reduced survival on 50μM cadmium concentrations compared to controls.

With normal food, the life span of MtnAΔATG MtnBΔATG MtnCΔATG MtnDOreR quadruple homozygotes is similar to that of controls. However, at 50μM copper, the mean life span of quadruple homozygous males is 6 days shorter than that of controls, and at 75μM copper, the mean life span of quadruple homozygous males is 14 days shorter than that of controls. The mean life span of quadruple homozygous females is 3 days shorter than that of controls at both 50μM and 75μM copper.
MtnDOreR is present in the OregonR strain, but not in the CantonS strain.
