Expression of MedScer\UAS.cSa with Scer\GAL4A9 results in ectopic wing vein tissue and altered wing shape.

Expression of MedScer\UAS.cSa using Scer\GAL4salm-459.2 has no severe effects on wing growth or patterning.

Expression of MedScer\UAS.cSa using Scer\GAL4nub-AC-62 causes alterations in the vein pattern and wing size.

When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1, ectopic vein tissue appears between wing veins L3 and L5. The distance between L3 and L5 appears reduced. Wings are 11% larger than wild type. Ectopic legs have abnormally short and wide tibia that lead to duplicated tarsi on one or more segments. Ectopic legs show severe bristle overgrowth. Alternatively, legs may be truncated. When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4A9, wings are enlarged by approximately 22%. Ectopic wing veins also develop.

Coexpression of fussScer\UAS.C restores wign shape and vein patterning of MedScer\UAS.cSa, Scer\GAL4A9 wings to an almost wild type mode, with only slight failure of complete outgrowth of L5 and the posterior crossvein.

Co-expression of MedScer\UAS.cSa suppresses the wing phenotypes caused by Scer\GAL4salm-459.2-mediated expression of SnooM67, giving rise to wings of almost normal size and pattern.

Co-expression of SnooM67 does not suppress the MedScer\UAS.cSa, Scer\GAL4nub-AC-62 wing phenotype. However, the vein phenotype seen in SnooM67, Scer\GAL4nub-AC-62 wings is suppressed by co-expression of MedScer\UAS.cSa.

Co-expression of MedScer\UAS.cSa partially rescues the phenotype caused by expression of SnooScer\UAS.cTa under the control of Scer\GAL4A9; wing size is rescued to wild type and the penetrance of the multiple wing vein defects is reduced to 28%.

Comments

Expression of MedScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4G14 in the muscles does not rescue neuromuscular junction size in Med3/MedC246 mutants. Expression of MedScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu in the neurons rescues neuromuscular junction size in Med3/MedC246 mutants.
