Weak allele. mmyIL07 larvae develop a bloated cuticle and a deformed and strongly melanised head skeleton. The cuticle of mmyIL07 larvae is stratified as in wild type, and the procuticular microfibrils appear correctly oriented. However, the procuticle contains abnormal inclusions of electron-dense material that are scattered below the epicuticle. mmyIL07 epidermal cells show septate junctions arranged in ladder-like structures as in wild type. The lumen diameter of the dorsal trunk in the mmyIL07 embryonic tracheal system is slightly irregular at stage 15 and becomes excessively elongated at stage 16. Apart from this irregularity, the tracheal system is correctly patterned.
