Ectopic overexpression of leaScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL415J2 in neurons that normally project over the medial fascicle is sufficient to displace their trajectory laterally to the central fascicle.

At 29oC, 21% of abdominal segments have partial or complete transformation of lch5 chordotonal organ morphology towards that of the thoracic dch3 chordotonal organs, in larvae expressing leaScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155.

Expression of leaScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4c17 results in anatomical defects in the giant fiber (GF) system; a proportion of GFs are deflected laterally. The physiological response of the GFs appears normal in these flies. Expression of leaScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4A307 results in anatomical defects in the giant fiber (GF) system; 100% of GFs are deflected laterally. The physiological response of the GFs appears normal in these flies. Ectopic expression of leaScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC, under the control of Scer\GAL4shakB.lethal.4.1, in the tergotrochanteral motor neurons has no effect on the anatomy of the giant fiber-tergotrochanteral motor neuron synapse. Physiologically, ectopic expression of leaScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC, under the control of Scer\GAL4shakB.lethal.4.1, in the tergotrochanteral motor neurons has only a subtle effect on giant fiber-tergotrochanteral motor neuron connectivity.

Ectopic expression of leaScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL415J2 in a robo3 mutant embryo can displace Fas2-positive axons laterally and longitudinally. Ectopic expression of leaScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL415J2 in a gcmΔP1 mutant embryo results in three classes of anomaly: 1. lateral displacement in embryos that have a mild phenotype (the expressivity of the gcm phenotype is variable); 2. in embryos with a more severe phenotype, the axons that misexpress leaScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC project over a single, fused, Fas2-fascicle (35% penetrance); and 3. axons misroute to the muscle exiting the central nervous system (10% penetrance).

11.2% of thoracic segments show transformation of the dch3 chordotonal organs to a morphology resembling that of abdominal lch5 chordotonal organs in robo7 leax135 double mutant embryos that are expressing leaScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155. 16% of thoracic segments show transformation of the dch3 chordotonal organs to a morphology resembling that of abdominal lch5 chordotonal organs in robo7 leax135 double mutant embryos that are expressing leaScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL448Y.
