actin filament & nurse cell, with Scer\GAL4VP16.mat.αTub67C
nurse cell & nucleus, with Scer\GAL4VP16.mat.αTub67C
When gnuScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP is driven by Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16, egg chambers up to stages 8-10 have wild-type morphology. However subsequent stages are characterised by large amounts of irregularly localised, often fragmented, chromatin resulting from the degeneration of nurse cell nuclei. Actin organisation within the egg chambers are also abnormal. Defects are first seen at stage 10, when nurse cells fail to assemble the actin meshwork and do not dump their cytoplasmic contents into the oocyte.

The addition of homozygous png5 to gnuScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP, Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16 animals completely restores ovarian function, though the eggs don't hatch and the png5 giant nuclei phenotype remains.
