Df(3R)16C3 breaks at insertion site of P{lacW}P16C3, 200 bp upstream of the transcriptional start site of CG4287. Coding region of CG4287 is left intact. An at least partial P{lacW}, included a functional w coding region, is recreated at the deficiency breakpoint.
Small larvae (2nd or early 3rd instar) crawl up the walls as if trying to pupate, but instead, they slow down and die, turning black.
