Expression of grimC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4CCAP.PP induces partial death of CCAP neurons in the third instar larval CNS.

Expression of grimC.Scer\UAS, under control of the post-mitotic neuron-specific Scer\GAL4elav-C155 driver in embryos, causes apoptosis of sensory neurons and a corresponding loss of peripheral glial cells. Many of these neurons stray off course and have misrouted axons. In embryos where axons do not connect between the dorsolateral region of the embryo to the CNS, the peripheral glia fail to migrate out of the CNS-PNS transition zone. Expression of grimC.Scer\UAS under the control of the glial-specific Scer\GAL4repo driver results in the loss of sensory neurons; remaining neurons often have shortened or misrouted axons, or show complete failure of axogenesis.

grimC.Scer\UAS when driven by Scer\GAL4Gp150-52A does not induce midline cell death, but when driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, ectopic eye cell death does occur.
