macrochaeta & thorax, with Scer\GAL4sca-537.4
Ectopic tanScer\UAS.cDa expression, under the regulation of Scer\GAL4C96 along the wing margin, causes notching of the wing. Expression of tanScer\UAS.cDa under the regulation of Scer\GAL4h-1J3 often results in lethality at the pupal stage. The majority of the flies dissected from their pupal cases have legs with missing joints and only four tarsal segments. Duplication of the sex combs is frequently observed. Expression of tanScer\UAS.cDa under the regulation of Scer\GAL4h-1J3 results in the production of extra wing vein material in distal regions. Expression of tanScer\UAS.cDa under Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 control results in a dramatic loss of most bristles on the adult thorax. The majority of sensory cells on the notum are missing, suggesting that the bristle defects occur at the time of sensory organ precursor differentiation.
Expression of tanScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 results in bristle defects. Escapers expressing tanScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4h-1J3 at 18oC are weakly viable and have ectopic wing veins or vein material. Expression of tanScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4C96 results in heavily notched wings.
