When a single copy of neurRING.Scer\UAS is driven by Scer\GAL4sca-537.4, viability is poor, in spite of this the effect on patterning is minimal, typically leading to the loss of only one or two dorsocentral macrochaetes. Multiple copies of neurRING.Scer\UAS yield a dramatic balding phenotype in the rare flies that survive to late pharate adult stage. Misexpression of neurRING.Scer\UAS when driven by Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 leads to an extreme disruption in the development and patterning of all cell types in the notum. Many sensory organs are missing and overall polarity is strongly affected. In addition development of the epidermal cells are also clearly disrupted, as large regions are devoid of the hairs normally produced by the epidermis. When neurRING.Scer\UAS is driven by Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096, a severe decrease in wing size is seen resulting in strongly curved wings. The campaniform sensillae normally seen on wing vein L3 appear to be relatively normal.
Flies expressing neurRING.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, display a small eye phenotype with apparent tufting and a high degree of ommatidial pitting and scarring. Eye discs misexpressing one or three copies of neurRING.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF display mild to severe derangement of patterning in the posterior of the eye disc.
neurRING.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4GMR.PF flies have small eyes with severely disrupted ommatidial architecture.
Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, neurRING.UAS has visible phenotype, suppressible | partially by effs1782/eff[+]
