wing & macrochaeta
The follicle epithelium is multilayered in sktl2.3/sktlΔ5 egg chambers in which the germline is rescued by expression of sktlScer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16. Dorsal appendages of the resulting egg shells are fused.
Lethality acts in the early first larval instar. Mutants show no obvious defects. Clonal analysis in the wing revealed a requirement for sktl for cell viability and/or growth. The few bristles that are recovered in clones are wavy or bent, indicating cytoskeletal defects.
sktl2.3/sktlΔ5 is rescued by Scer\GAL4VP16.nanos.UTR/sktlUASp.cGa
