The percentage of polycyclic pulses in courtship song generated by Camtacro homozygotes, Camtacro/CamtaMI04570, Camtacro/CamtaMI01580 and Camtacro/CamtaMI04570-TG4.1 are significantly higher than controls; while Camtacro/Camtaf05489, Camtacro/CamtaMI01132A and Camtacro/CamtaMB05101 are not significantly different when compared to both heterozygous and wild-type controls. Also Camtacro homozygotes and Camtacro/CamtaMI04570-TG4.1 transheterozygotes exhibit significant prolongation of the courtship song interpulse interval when compared to controls.

The carrier frequency of Camtacro/CamtaMI04570-TG4.1 pulse courtship songs is shifted to higher frequencies even in monocyclic pulses, though the magnitude of shift is smaller than in polycyclic pulses, and that multiple peaks at the higher frequency range are derived from polycyclic pulses when compared to controls.

Male courtship pulse song is clearly different from wild type, it is polycyclic. Also the interpulse intervals are statistically longer than wild type. The courtship sine song begins with a lower amplitude and does not maintain the level of loudness. Mating success of males with wild type females is low, male courtship is not as vigorous as that of wild type males. Mating success of females with wild type males is also low. It is possible that the mutation perturbs the entire flight system and not just the system producing the courtship song. Electrical properties in either larval or adult neuromuscular system are indistinguishable from wild type. Visual nervous system functions normally.

Mobilisation of the P{BmΔ-w} insertion demonstrates it is responsible for the behavioural phenotypes.
