Homozygous clones in the adult head cause abnormalities in the shape of the dorsal part of the head. The ocelli may be abnormal or absent. The arista may be absent or enlarged. Clones affecting the eye cause the eye and surrounding areas to be transformed to bristle-bearing cuticle. Homozygous embryos have abnormalities in the head. The first and second midgut constrictions are shifted posteriorly. The epidermis and central nervous system appear normal.
