Homozygous embryos exhibit reduced hindgut and anal pads, primary cause is ectopic cell death in the primordia. Transheterozygotes with byn1 and byn2 allow some (1-25%) survive to adulthood, no escapers are obtained from transheterozygotes with byn3, byn4 and byn5. Escaper adults appear morphologically normal but females are sterile (no eggs in the egg chambers have progressed beyond stage 7 of ovarian development). Escapers usually die 1-2 days after eclosion.
P{Trg20} can rescue the lethality of byn6/Df(3L)vin4 transheterozygous embryos.
