      Reference

      The 1.6 kb zen upstream region drives EcollacZ expression in a "dorsal-on/ventral-off" pattern resembling wild type zen expression. Reporter expression is initiated and maintained correctly in the dorsal region, but no signal is detected in pole cells. When the construct contains the ry marker, low level of signal is seen in ventral tissues as a result of a mesoderm enhancer element in ry; no signal is seen when w is used as the marker gene.
