      In early embryo, persistence of pair-rule-type expression pattern, with highest levels of expression in parasegments 6, 8, 10, 12. Weak EcollacZ expression in the odd parasegments; weak ectopic expression in parasegment 4. Ectopic expression in head and tail regions.Expression in the visceral mesoderm of parasegment 7 resembles wild-type Ubx expression.In embryo, many differences in relative levels of expression, compared to pattern of wild-type Ubx expression. In late embryos, this is especially noticeable in patterns of expression in the CNS.In third instar larvae, weak and variable expression in all imaginal discs.
