Subsequent to heat-shock, high levels of expression observed in most tissues. Higher levels observed in early egg chambers relative to late egg chambers. Quantitation hindered by variable permeability of different structures and tissues, affecting uptake of the X-gal substrate. Without heat-shock, expression cannot be distinguished from background levels.
Lis
Carried in plasmid "ep19.1".
Large puffs are formed in response to heat shock.
Posttranscriptional upregulation during aging. Expression during aging is specific to the flight muscles and leg muscles. The time-course of expression is proportional to life-span.
The rate and amount of induction of Ecol\lacZ protein after heat shock is preserved during aging, but the rate of decay of Ecol\lacZ protein may be slightly delayed in older animals.
