Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Severe roughened eye phenotype. Sterile in males. The majority of onion stage cysts appear normal with 64 cells, with nuclei with decondensed chromatin and nebenkern of similar size. However these cells go on to attempt an extra division after meiosis II, sometimes assembling a monopolar spindle, resulting in cells with variable number and size of nuclei. Some cells attempt an extra cytokinesis. The extra division is not preceded by an extra S phase, nor by duplication of the centrioles. No normal germ cells were found in later stage rux cysts. Semisterile in females.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Lowering the dose of CycA or twe rescues the rux germline phenotype. Lowering the dose of CycB only partially rescues the rux germline phenotype. Lowering the dose of stg or cdc2 has no effect on the germline phenotype of rux.

Mobilization of the P-element can generate revertants that have lost the male sterility.
