11.7kb of w+ genomic sequences, including 3.0kb of 5' flanking sequences and 2.9kb of 3' flanking sequences, with insertion of a single copia LTR (276bp) within the second intron. Similar to wa, with replacement of the copia insertion by a single copia LTR.

      Susceptible to position effects. To investigate if the reduced level of expression observed for P{waRsLTR}l(1)2CgV24 is due to a position effect, the insertion was induced to transpose to new sites; at most new sites produces nearly wild-type eye colour.
