      Heterozygous males start to court mature wild-type CantonS females at 13 hours old (wild-type CantonS males start courting mature females at 17 hours old). The mutant males also mate earlier than control males: when 17 hours old, 15% of mutant heterozygous males mate during the first 10 minutes and 31% mate during the first 60 minutes (wild-type CantonS males initiate copulation only when 28 hours old).

      Weak haploinsufficiency for Abl, loss of one gene copy of pros exacerbates the Abl- mutant phenotype. In heterozygotes the anterior and posterior commissural axon bundles in each segment are closer together but not completely fused. The absence of Abl does not detectably alter the mutant phenotype.
