In cas24 homozygotes, the larval central brain exhibits ectopically proliferating neuroblasts (i.e. increased numbers in S-phase), compared to controls.

Entry into quiescence is delayed in cas24 mutant NB3-3T neuroblasts.

Neuroblasts in abdominal cas24 clones induced during early embryogenesis fail to undergo apoptosis at 96 hours.

Posterior commissure has only half the diameter of wild type embryos: one fasciclin III- positive fascicle is missing.
