Level of Drs induction of bacterially challenged tub2/tub1 and tub3/tub1 mutants is lower than in wild type. Pattern of response of CecA1 and CecA2 parallels that of Drs. Dpt and Dro remain fully inducible and pattern of expression of AttA and Def in intermediate.

Strongly dorsalised embryos. Transheterozygotes with tub2 are completely dorsalised, the phenotype of tub1 Tl3t/tub2 is unchanged from the transheterozygote.

Injected dl- perivitelline fluid had no effect on embryos.

tub1/tub2 heterozygous embryos gastrulate symmetrically and secrete a twisted and hollow tube of dorsal cuticle.

Dorsalized embryos: all cuticle cells along the dorsoventral axis behave like dorsal cells of the wild type embryo. zen expression pattern refines at stage 5, dpp pattern does not refine at all, twi and sna are expressed during late stages of embryogenesis.

Embryos derived from homozygous females are dorsalised.

Embryos can be rescued with wild-type cytoplasm and RNA; however, none hatch.
