A 3.5kb hobo is inserted into the 3' splice site of the male-specific exon 3. The hobo is transcribed in the same direction as Sxl.

Similar to SxlM3 at molecular level.

Insertion of approximately 5kb 297 element into Sxl, approximately 1kb proximal to the site of roo element insertion in SxlM1. SxlM3 and SxlM5 are similar at the molecular level.
