sca¹/sca^BP2 mutants, the pupal notum shows splitting of proneural stripes two and four, to form supernumerary rows.

Dsim\py¹/sca¹ females show a sca-like (Dsim\py-like) phenotype.

Heterozygous adults exhibit a small number of misrotated ommatidia.

sca^BP2/sca¹ animals exhibit abnormal patterning of the notal microchaetae. Instead of being aligned in five straight rows, as seen in wild-type, they are arranged chaotically.

Suppress spl alleles of N eye phenotype due to haploinsufficiency of sca, not allele specific interaction.

Homozygotes exhibit rough eyes and twinned bristles.
