Detailed Description

sca1/scaBP2 mutants, the pupal notum shows splitting of proneural stripes two and four, to form supernumerary rows.

Dsim\py1/sca1 females show a sca-like (Dsim\py-like) phenotype.

Heterozygous adults exhibit a small number of misrotated ommatidia.

scaBP2/sca1 animals exhibit abnormal patterning of the notal microchaetae. Instead of being aligned in five straight rows, as seen in wild-type, they are arranged chaotically.

Suppress spl alleles of N eye phenotype due to haploinsufficiency of sca, not allele specific interaction.

Homozygotes exhibit rough eyes and twinned bristles.

Eyes large and rough. Ocellar bristles 85% absent at 25oC and 10% absent at 18oC. Postverticals occasionally missing. Bristle effect more extreme in male at 21oC and in female at 28oC. Most bristles subject to twinning. May be extra rows of acrostichal hairs.
