Inversion of approximately 40kb, that was induced by recombination between the P-element insertions present in y+ns and P-element insertions present in the ac-sc complex. The regulatory region of the y gene, the gypsy{}y2 insertion and the 19.7kb genomic fragment flanked by two P-element insertions (P{}y+nsa and P{}y+nsb) that are all present in y+ns are not involved in the inversion. The P{}y+nsb insertion is flanked by a 2.9kb P-element copy (P{}P3), in orientation opposite to that of P{}y+nsa and P{}y+nsb. The P{}P3 insertion has a small 43bp deletion in the first exon. The sequence GACTGGAC separates the P{}y+nsb and P{}P3 insertions. The P{}P3 insertion frames the inversion, starting with ac-sc sequences from the position 24.5kb in the coordinates used in FBrf0042024 and terminating at -69bp relative to the y transcription unit. The inversion thus contains y (from -69bp), ac and sc in reversed orientation. On the other side, the inversion is flanked by a 2.2kb P-element insertion (P{}P4).
