ScerGAL4Gr28a.PT drives expression in the following series of neurons. Larval gustatory receptor neuron of the hypophysis VP3, where it may coexpress with ScerGAL4Gr68a.PB, VP4 and VP5. Larval gustatory receptor neuron of the hypopharyngeal organ PP3 where it is coexpressed with ScerGAL4Gr33a.4.7, ScerGAL4Gr66a.1.8, ScerGAL4Gr32a.3.7.PW, ScerGAL4Gr22b.5.8, ScerGAL4Gr39a.a.3.4, ScerGAL4Gr39b.4.4, ScerGAL4Gr39a.d.1.7, ScerGAL4Gr93c.3.8 and ScerGAL4Gr93d.2.4 Larval gustatory receptor neuron of the hypopharyngeal organ PP4 where it is coexpressed with ScerGAL4Gr33a.4.7, ScerGAL4Gr66a.1.8, ScerGAL4Gr22b.5.8, ScerGAL4Gr39a.a.3.4, ScerGAL4Gr39b.4.4, ScerGAL4Gr39a.d.1.7, ScerGAL4Gr93c.3.8 and ScerGAL4Gr93d.2.4. Larval gustatory receptor neuron of the hypopharyngeal organ PP5 and PP6 where it is coexpressed with ScerGAL4Gr93d.2.4.
ScerGAL4Gr28a.PT drives expression in adult abdominal multidendritic neurons with with dorsal processes extending along the left-right axis, as well as in multidendritic neurons with lateral processes extending anteroposteriorly; these major processes have several protruding dendrites. Additionally, expression is driven in multidendritic neurons with ladder-like processes along the dorsal abdominal wall.
ScerGAL4Gr28a.PT is expressed in gustatory neurons of all of the bitter-sensitive small labellar taste bristles, and in gustatory neurons of the three posterior-most intermediate labellar taste bristles.
ScerGAL4Gr28a.PT is expressed in all of the short and in a few of the intermediate bitter-sensitive sensilla of the labellum.
ScerGAL4Gr28a.PT drives expression in two gustatory receptor neurons of the larval terminal organ, two neurons of the dorsal organ, two neurons of the posterior pharyngeal sense organ (PPS or hypopharyngeal sense organ) and in two neurons of the ventral pharyngeal sense organ (VPS or hypophysis). The two neurons of the dorsal organ also express ScerGAL4Gr2a.2.2.
Expression of ScerGAL4Gr28a.PT is seen in approximately 32 neurons per labial palp. ScerGAL4Gr28a.PT is found to be expressed in a single neuron associated with the ventral cibarial sense organ. Expression of ScerGAL4Gr28a.PT is seen in two neurons associated with the fifth tarsal segment of the adult foreleg. Expression of ScerGAL4Gr28a.PT is seen in a single, large cell at the base of the maxillary palpus that is not an olfactory sensory neuron. Expression is seen in leg neurons thought to be stretch receptors or proprioreceptors. In the larva, expression is seen in a single neuron per ventral pit of the terminal organ.
