ScerGAL4GABA-B-R2.PR drives expression in the ellipsoid body ring between the innervation regions of R3 and R4d ring neurons and also in the R3 ring. Expression is also detected in the fan-shaped body dorsal and central layers (whereas GABA-B-R2 protein is expressed in all layers), in the protocerebral bridge and bulb (lateral triangle).

ScerGAL4GABA-B-R2.PR drives expression in the insulin producing cells (IPC), a subset of the median neurosecretory cells of the pars intercerebralis and in other cells located ventrally to the IPC cells that are part of the median neurosecretory cluster. Most, if not all, IPC cells labeled with ScerGAL4GABA-B-R2.PR also express Ilp2 protein.
