The P{EP(loxP.UAS)y+.UAS} element contains UAS sequences at both ends, with each copy of UAS being oriented outwards, so that when expression is driven by a GAL4 driver, transcription is directed outwards from both ends of the element, potentially driving overexpression of any nearby genomic loci in both directions. A y+t* marker is present in between the two UAS sequences. The 5' copy of UAS plus the y+t* marker are flanked by a pair of loxP sites, allowing them to be excised in the presence of P1cre recombinase.
construct_comment: Double headed enhancer piracy construct in which the 5\' Scer\UAS is flanked by \'loxP\' sites. Constructed by Konrad Basler and Denis Nellen.
