Description and Uses
Description

P{KZ.TRAP} is an enhancer trap construct that encodes a lacZ reporter that can be used to trace the morphology and projections of neurons. The enhancer trap sequence is at the 5' end of the construct and consists of the weak P\T promoter fused upstream of lacZ coding sequence that is tagged at the N-terminal end with the Tag:MT(Khc) tag (this sequence targets the lacZ protein to the microtubules, and in neurons this results in the protein being targeted to cell projections such as the axon, presumably due to the tagged protein being transported along the microtubules towards their plus ends).
