P{en1(w)} is an enhancer trap construct that encodes a cytoplasmic lacZ reporter. The enhancer trap sequence consists of a fragment of en promoter extending from -2.4kb to +188bp upstream of the transcription start site fused upstream of the lacZ coding sequence.
construct_comment: Expression observed in homozygotes versus heterozygotes; tested for proximity dependence (transvection).
construct_comment: One of a series of constructs used to characterize en regulatory elements contained within the first intron.
construct_comment: One of a series of constructs analyzed for effects of en sequences upon expression of the adjacent w+mC gene.
construct_comment: P{en1} and P{en1(w)} have different selectable markers; the en-lacZ fusion components are identical.
