Description and Uses
Description

P{lwB} is an enhancer trap construct that contains at its 5' end the relatively weak P\T promoter fused upstream of sequence encoding the lacZ reporter enzyme (the lacZ sequence is fused in-frame to the second exon of the P\T coding sequence).

The lacZ reporter encoded by the P{lwB} construct is expected to be localized to the nucleus, because it is fused to the N-terminal 128 amino acid residues of P\T (which have been shown to be sufficient for nuclear localization).

Description

Construct: In frame translational fusion of P\T to Ecol\lacZ, in the second exon of the P element. The fusion includes the P element promoter. The P-element 5' end is from pUChsneo.

Reference

Basal pattern of stripes, restricted to epidermal clusters of cells. Expression localized to nucleus.

Expression pattern dependent upon position of insertion in genome. Basal pattern observed in approximately 30% of transformants: in extended germ band embryos, weak expression in dorsal epidermis, stronger in alternate segments.
